Ruffle lamp shade makeover tutorial

(if you missed that post)
I wanted to find a pretty feminine "French" looking lamp so I went shopping :)
Of course I didn't want to spend a ton of money (as usual)
I came across this silver mercury looking base at Target
I knew this was it and for only $20 bucks too!
I tried on different lamp shades and I found this one with Grey stripes top and bottom but...
I thought it might look a bit too modern for mom's room
I bought it anyway thinking I could add a little sumpin sumpin to it
I had some lightweight fabric left over from an Ikea curtain
I decided to make little flower ruffles to cover the lamp shade and make it more feminine.
I cut a bunch of 2 - 2 1/2" circles
I kind of folded the center of each circle and added a little hot glue to hold it together
Then added another little dab of hot glue and stuck it on the top silver stripe
I hot glued a bunch of them right next to each other...over and over
Once the top stripe was covered with RUFFLES...I decided that was a perfect amount and decided
NOT to cover the whole lamp shade.
Less is More
You can see this little cutie pa-tootie sitting on mom's newly chalk painted dresser
Ignore the checkerboard edged rug..it will be replaced soon :)
Its the little details that pull a room together don't you think?
Next up- More on the little details :)

I have been gathering ideas for lampshades for awhile. I even have a board on Pinterest for them. Adding this cute one!
ReplyDeleteThe mercury glass lamp would have had me figuring out a way to use it too! The shade complements the base and looks so much more feminine now.
