This is a fabulous salad and so easy to make!
I microwaved my yam until it was soft, peeled it and cut into squares, set aside. In a large frying pan I sautéed strips of chicken in olive oil, seasoned with salt, pepper, thyme and Rosemary until no pink left. Remove chicken and set aside.
In same frying pan I added the dressing and some maple syrup and cooked it until it was thick, added back in the cubed yams and chicken to coat.
I used a spring mix for my salad along with fresh raspberries, sliced almonds and a sprinkle of freshly grated parmesean cheese over the top.
The dressing mixed with maple syrup was to die for!

Macy's Window Candy Ornaments Centerpiece Wednesday

Welcome to Centerpiece Wednesday
This was the centerpiece of my week.
Macy's in downtown Salt Lake has some gorgeous window displays going on right now!
These enormous ornaments are made from candy!!
These ornaments turn so it was hard to get a perfect picture.
This is just amazing to see all the details and all the different candy they used to create these show stopping window displays!
This is the mouse from the Nutcracker and I think the other side is Santa.
I wonder how many pounds of candy it took to make each ornament and how long it took to make each one? They were just gorgeous!

If you have never had the opportunity to see Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah at Christmas you are missing out! I took these photos a week or so ago....and it doesn't do it justice.
The lights are everywhere and in every color. It is spectacular!
This one is a little blurry but still pretty.
I love going to temple square and feeling the spirit there...it is like no other place on earth.
There is a very large nativity scene on temple square where they play beautiful Christmas music and a recording about the Savior's birth that...reminds me of the reason why we celebrate Christmas.
President Henry B. Eyring said this:
It is my prayer that the Spirit will bless us this Christmas and in the years to come with the power to offer other gifts of love and of the testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. I know that the Spirit can lead each of us in many and simple ways to give love, faith, and joy to others at this season of rejoicing.
I testify that Jesus Christ was the literal Son of God and the Savior of the world. He was the perfect gift from our loving Father. At this and every season, our Savior invites us to join with Him and others to offer the priceless gift of joy.
I pray that we will.
May you all feel the love and joy of the savior.

I was invited to a cookie exchange party and was trying to figure out a way to serve my cookies in an original way and then I found this darling silver Christmas card stand In a thrift store and paid $2.00 or $3.00 dollars for it and a "light bulb" idea popped into my head...cookie Christmas Tree!
You can't tell in this photo but it is silver and badly tarnished...someday I will polish it up....not!
My daughter baked a bunch of these soft amazing ginger cookies and dipped them in white chocolate and added Brite colored sprinkles on some and plain sugar on the others.
Here is the recipe:
Soft Ginger Cookies Dipped in White Chocolate
1 1/2 C (3 sticks butter)
2 C sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 C Molases
4 1/2 Cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp slt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
In bowl cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and molasses. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.
Add the rest o the dry ingredient. Mix until combined well. Spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degree for 10-12 minutes
When cool dip cookies haf way in melted white chocolate andplace on wax paper to cool.
After my daughter made the cookies, I put them in cello bags and tied them with red, white and green ribbon and hung the loop of each bow on the card holders all around the tree.
Here is the tree sitting atop of my side board in the breakfast nook.

Sparkly Silver Blue and White Tablescape and Centerpiece Wednesday

Welcome everyone to a Sparkly Centerpiece Wednesday :)
I am having a little dinner party this Saturday with some friends and I have been trying to decide what to do to make my table sparkly, whimsical and yet elegant...at first I was going to use bright bold colors but then i decided on a more monochromatic look using lots of silver.
My dining room is painted a fun Robin's Egg blue color that just lends itself to silver and white. My silver chargers paired with my Ikea white dinner plates topped with these soft blue salad plates (of which I don't have enough of..so I am also using some of my white salad plates ) I also found these fun little sparkly reindeers for a fun little touch.
I added some bling to my chandelier....I found these
drop crystal ornaments at Tai Pan trading for just a couple of bucks each and hung them over each arm of the chandy...it totally looks like they are a part of the chandelier! Then I added a strand of pastel colored ball garland to bring in a little pizazz.
I wanted something fun to put at each place setting and found these pink reindeer ornaments at Walmart...I wish they were a
soft colored pink but they are still fun.
I love these silver trees...my sister and I found these on clearance at walmart a few years ago...we totally scored at only $4.00 each!
I used a beautiful silvery garland down the center of the table and added trees, votive candle holders,
ornaments,
candlesticks etc to
make it look full and pretty

Snowman Punch Bowl Idea Centerpiece Wednesday

I saw this idea in one of my old magazines from Matthew Mead and I absolutely loved it!
I took a fishbowl (brand new) and added the face on the punch bowl by melting chocolate and using my fingers made circles for the eyes and mouth. I then used white chocolate and tinted it with gel food coloring to make it orange for the nose. I placed the punch bowl on a tray and put tons of mini marshmallows all around the base of it! So precious!For the glasses I used clean rootbeer bottles and added a powdered donut hole on the top with the straw going through it to hold it in place. I used mini chocolate chips for the eyes and a "jelly belly" jelly bean...cut in half for the nose.
Then I decorated the necks of the root beer bottles with some left over orange fluffy trim for a scarf.
We served Eggnog in the punch bowl because it was cold and wouldn't melt the face off the snowman. You could try different a punch to serve in there for a festive look.

I was recently invited to a fun gift exchange party where we each made 10 gifts to give away to one another...kind of like a cookie exchange but less calories ;) LOL
I decided to make these little pedestal cake plates!
I knew I was going to be short on time because the party was right after Thanksgiving so I had to make something simple but nice. I looked in my favorite shopping places... Tai Pan Trading and Ikea. I found the scalloped edge tart pan at Tai Pan for less than $3.00 each! The bottom is a candle stick from Ikea for less than $5.00 each.
I used this very strong, powerful, highly odor-iffic smelling glue that worked perfectly!! I sanded the edges of the candlesticks to rough up the paint finish so that the bond would be really strong. You simple attach them and let dry overnight.
I love the simplicity of this and yet the elegance of it. I think the gals at the gift exchange loved getting these. Fun and easy and useful gift don't you think?
You could serve cookies on your pedestal cake plate at your next cookie exchange to elevate them to the next level. hehehe
