Cheap Paper Flower Centerpieces- Centerpiece Wednesday

Welcome to Centerpiece Wednesday

Do you ever need to come up with a cheap centerpiece for lots of tables? I am the president of a large group of young women at our church ....The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and once a year we combine all the young Women and all the Young men for a big dinner. This year there will be between 400 to 450 youth and leaders! I needed a cheap table decoration..so I made these paper flowers (last year) in lots of bright colors to put In the middle of each table.

It is a great way to use up old tissue paper...maybe from Christmas or birthdays...keep it and use it in a new fun way..I pulled all these flowers out of storage..(large garbage sacks) and re-fluffed them and they still looked great!

This is a photo from last years dinner. I also bought rolls of wrapping paper in bright colors and cut them into rectangles to add a little more pop of color under the flowers.

I think we had 32 or 34 tables and we packed the place!

Craft rooms

Craft Room Tour- Made by IKEA

I have always loved the craft office rooms that Pottery Barn catalog shows so I set out to copy it as best as I could...cheaply of course.

I found these desk tops and shelves at IKEA and after we built the shelves we attached the desk tops with screws.

I did not put doors on them and opted for baskets.

You can see a lower countertop in the middle and that is where I house my serger and over to the left is my sewing machine. I put it on a higher countertop so I could stand and sew. (A total back saver)

A few of my favorite things in this room is the shelf above, the wrapping center on the left that holds wrapping paper and the white shelves with mason jars hanging from them. My cute hubby made these for me!!

He really did such a great job!

I love to see all the colors of thread...it motivates me to be creative.

Here is a close up of the shelves with the mason jars in them. They are awesome to store scissors, pens, wire cutters, rulers and tape measure....how many times do you have to go look for your tap measure..this keeps everything in one place.

Another IKEA find ...this shelving unit can be used standing up or on its side like I am using it. I love the large openings and the big box containers that fit into the openings. I keep current projects (haha I say that and yet I haven't finished a project in quite some time) in these boxes as well as gift wrapping stuff in others.

There you have it...my craft room!

Dreaming of spring

I looked out my window and saw all the snow and I started to dream about spring

When I could once again start grilling and eating outside

When I could look at all the beautiful flowers in bloom

When I could open up our umbrella and hang the turquoise votive candle holders

When I could feel the warm sunshine on my back as I sit and dine..

I can't wait for Johnny Jump ups!

DIY country wedding - Centerpiece Wednesday

My niece got married last Saturday and the decor for the reception was adorable..I just had to share it with all of you for Centerpiece Wednesday. Her theme was country...she used sunflowers, mason jars, burlap and lace. For the food they did a dessert bar along with a candy and popcorn bar!

Dance decorations

New York Dance Decorations- Centerpiece Wednesday

I have been one busy gal lately...Our family hosted a young women from China the week of Christmas and had the best Christmas ever! Then I helped host a New Years Eve Dance for the youth...a lot of youth...500 plus!! I am posting some pictures so you can see all the fun and work we did to set it up to look like New York City!!

Mass humanity of youth!

The D.J. Turned on the lights and told the youth that in 30 years of being a D.J. This was the biggest crowd he had ever seen!

I think there must have been over 500 youth at this dance!

This is a view from the stage towards the dance decorations for the construction zone cafe!
A sweet lady in my neighborhood loaned us the amazing statue of Lady liberty for our New York dance decorations so we created Statton Island for her!
I made a video of photos of New York and we used projectors to show the images on the walls in the background

The marquee wall that the youth created these New York dance decorations out of cardboard boxes, paint and Christmas lights..here they are all lit up!
