I AM BEING FEATURED ON TIPJUNKIE Today!!
ONE LAST NAPKIN RING GIVEAWAY!!
INFO IS POSTED AT THE END OF THIS POST
I started out with my white dining room table with nothing on it. Plain and boring.
I pick a color for my tablescape based on napkins or plates or something in the centerpiece. I love the colors of these blue and green napkins they are so refreshing don't you think? I just picked them up over the weekend at TJMAXX 4 for $5.99. The colors remind me of California for some reason and the beach!
So that is what I am going with. For my centerpiece I stacked my white plates with black lettering (also from TJMAXX a few years ago) on one of my clear cake plates and topped it with a birds nest under a glass dome!

On my npakins I have used a set of my White berry wreath napkin rings. They really pop against the colorful napkins. You can buy them for $1.00 each here on my blog.
Isn't the green cut crystal wine glass gorgeous!! These belonged to my grandmother and she passed them to my mom and recently my mom passed them on to me!
I llike mixing plain things with sparkly fancy things.
I loved the print on the napkin so much that I used one in the center for a a mini tablecloth. That left me short one napkin but I remembered that I had some other green and blue striped napkins and brought those out and they matched perfectly!! I was able to use them in this tablescape as well as the paisley ones. I just did it every other one and I think it just adds to the table to use more than one fabric!
I also tried using lime green napkins with a blue napkin ring around it.
I loved that too!
How about just a crisp white one napkin with the blue napkin ring!
I love that one too!
It is just so refreshing isn't it?
Here is the same table only I changed out the centerpiece. I used my thrift store glass hurricane jar and filled it with decorative lime green apples and I also used white glasses instead of the cut crystal ones and I changed out the floral napkin in the center for the striped one.
I am amazed at how versatile the white dishes are. I am able to use them in so many tablescapes and have it look so different!
Just by changing out the salad plate makes it look completely different. Here I added back in the cut crystal glasses and blue soup bowls sitting on top of the lime green salad plates.
I
Setting the table is so fun to do and makes meal time more fun.

..Dear Mother nature...where did you go? Our trees blossomed out and our flowers started to grow. Jack Frost came into town and the wind did blow and covered everything in a blanket of snow! Please come back...because we miss you so!
I will work in my garden day and night and make it pretty so it will glow even at night.
I will find my garden gloves and my foam kneed pad thing and work in the yard no complaints from me.
I will prune, I will trim and maybe even mow
I will dig I will plant, I will water and hoe so that my garden will positively just glow!
The allergens in the air will cause me to sneeze and my eyes will water until I can't see but you won't hear me complain and I will not flee.I will prune, I will trim and maybe even mow
as long as you move this thick white snow.Come back Mother nature so we can eat some of your wonderful home grown treats. Herbs by the plenty tomatoes and squash, cucumbers, pumpkin and some homemade pesto sauce! We will plan many parties and invite many friends to come to our backyard and enjoy without end.
Love, The Style Sisters!
Hope you enjoy your Sabbath day today and give thanks for all that we have been given weather rain or shine or snow or sun. :)

I HAVE BEEN ON A KICK RECENTLY ABOUT USING GLASS CYLINDER VASES THAT I FOUND AT THE THRIFT STORE IN GREAT NEW WAYS. I GOT SOME OF THESE IDEAS FROM MATTHEW MEAD'S BOOK ENTERTAINING SIMPLE. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND IT IS FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH AMAZING SIMPLE IDEAS OF HOW TO ENTERTAIN USING WHAT YOU MAY ALREADY OWN IN NEW AND DIFFERENT WAYS. For instance this particular cylinder glass bowl I bought for $4.00 at my local thrift store and I created this fun centerpiece with those yummy little oranges called "cuties' and some grocery store bought white flowers. I tucked them in and around the fruit.
(each stem is placed in one of those florist green plastic things that hold water so they stay fresh for a long time)Then using the idea in Matthew Mead's book I flipped the same glass bowl upside down and it becomes a "cake dome" of sorts but I used it to cover a large plate of yummy cookies. I placed it on a white plate that is covered with this cute plastic pink doily I picked up at Ikea! $2.00 for a set of 4 or 5 different doilies.
This is a photo from Matthew Mead's book..using the same glass bowl to serve soup in. But how about serving a green salad, colorful fruit salad or a pasta salad in it!
More from the book....using it as a cooler with ice for drinks on a hot summer day. Again the dome look for the cookies from his book.
How about using it as a bowl for beautiful pears as a quick and easy centerpiece! You can even fill it with sand and candles for a very serene centerpiece.
This is a fun thrifty idea I came up with ....Re-purpose clear glass rootbeer bottles to use as little vases filled with flowers to brighten your table. Or maybe even drop one of these lettler flower vases off at a friends house and spread some cheer.

Matthew Mead's idea of using a simple water goblet as a vase is such a cute idea and a great way to use up flowers that maybe got broken or have a short stems. You could even place one at each placesetting for a fun look.
Here is a quick idea for entertaining on the fly. Maybe you setting up a buffet and want a little height on the table but you don't own a tiered cake platter. Just use two dinner plates and a small glass bowl or a short candle stick holder and stack them on top of each other for an instant cake stand! Fill with delicious treats, appetizers or make a pretty centerpiece using fruit and flowers!
This was a great find at the thrift store for only $7.00!! A very large tall glass cylinder vase. I was so excited to find it while shopping there with my good friend Penny! I can fill this with pinecones and apples in the fall, colorful glass ornaments for Christmas, Any kind of fruit for any season, sand and a large candle for summer or seashells...the list goes on and on!
