RED Valentine's Day Tablescape Idea
By The Style Sisters - Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Red Valentine's Day Tablescape
For those of you that know me...I love me some red!
I came up with this tablescape by gathering things from around the house that would work with this color scheme.
I started with the striped red white and tan fabric in the center all crumbled up. Added the large white lantern (Ikea $10.00 years ago) and then the brown bamboo placemats .25 each at Garden Ridge. I used some of my dinner plates I bought from Tai Pain awhile back for $2.00 each and added the floral salad plate (free from my mom who got them from a used restaurant supply place), I used the bright red cloth napkins with one of my white napkin rings (My Etsy Store), I love how the red napkin really stands out when placed over the entire placesetting. I added a small chocolate heart candy to the mix.
This cake stand is actually a Christmas cake stand and has Christmas trees in the center but who's to know when you cover it with a white doiley and my cute red and white striped bowlies each with a chocolate heart in it. (I would fill it with some creme brulee if I stopped playing around with dishes and cooked ha ha). I pulled the little birdies from off the shelf in the kitchen, the little green ivy from the bathroom and the little silver vase with white flowers from my daughters bedroom.
I love to set a pretty table with things from around the house.

I spotted this armoire at the thrift store a few months ago and decided to get it and re-do the inside of it to hold all my extra glasses, dishes and linens. So the first thing we did was... Rip out the shelf that use to hold a T.V.
We had to use a crowbar to get the dang thing out!
then we removed all the electrical plugs that were there for DVD players and such.

Where the large hole was in the back of the Armoire (For large T.V's.) I had some toile black and white fabric left over from some other project and used a staple gun to attach it all around to cover the hole and make a pretty background.
I think it turned out great!
I then had my cute hubby put in one shelf.
But then I decided that two shelves would be better... so he installed a second shelf.
It holds all my extra glasses, holiday dishes, odds and ends perfectly.
All the drawers and cupboards below hold my napkins, placemats, chargers and tablecloths.
With just a little bit of work I now have great storage for all my goodies.

"TIME FOR LOVE" VALENTINE TABLESCAPE
By The Style Sisters - Thursday, January 21, 2010
I DECIDED TO CALL THIS VALENTINE TABLESCAPE
"TIME FOR LOVE"
SINCE I USED A BIG RED CLOCK ON THE TABLE.
KIND OF CUTE DON'T YOU THINK?
I ROUNDED UP A BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS FROM AROUND THE HOUSE TO CREATE THE CENTERPIECE. THE CLOCK, A MINI SILVER BIRDCAGE, A GREEN SILK POTTED PLANT AND THE TALL BLACK CANDLESTICK LOOKING ITEM.
I REALLY LIKE HOW THE BROWN BAMBOO PLACE MATS ADDED SOME TEXTURE AGAINST THE CREAMY WHITE AND RED PLATES.
I LOOKED IN MY CUPBOARDS AND FOUND THESE ADORABLE CREME BRULE RED AND WHITE STRIPED BOWLS AND HAD TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO USE THEM. YOU COULDN'T SEE THE STRIPES UNTIL I TURNED THEM UPSIDE DOWN. I PLACED A CHOCOLATE HEART ON TOP TO COVER THE UGLY BOTTOM.
ONCE AGAIN I USED THE WHITE BERRY WREATH NAPKIN RINGS TO ADD A LITTLE FLUFF TO THE TABLE.
LOVE THE CHOCOLATE HEART ON THE LITTLE BOWLIE!

I PUT TOGETHER SOME FUN IDEAS USING THE BERRY WREATH NAPKIN RING HOLDERS I HAVE FOR SALE ON MY ETSY. USING PINK, RED OR WHITE NAPKIN RINGS LIKE THIS CAN MAKE YOUR TABLE REALLY FEEL SPECIAL.
Bring things onto your table that you may have around the house like these two little love birds.
I even added a napkin ring to the top of the one bird for a little "love dove" appealJust by crisscrossing the silverware and putting them inside the napkin ring and then placing it on top of the napkin that sits in the middle of the salad plate you create layers and it looks interesting and new!
Using pink napkins with a pink napkin ring holder and placing it on a black and white patterned plate or placemat really makes the pink pop off the table. I think it looks romantic.
Here I used a red charger behind the white dinner plate and a black and white patterned salad plate with a white napkin and pink napkin ring holder to bring in even more color and pop.
Can't you just see a delicious crisp green salad with strawberries or raspberries here !!
How about using some of your decorator plates that you might have hanging on the wall for a salad or dessert plate?
Use what you may already have in a new a different way makes it feel brand new!
Please stop by my ETSY shop and see more napkin ring Ideas and grab some up for your Valentine Dinner or Brunch!

Here are some Valentine Deliciousness that will get your mouth watering and your hands itching to make!
The photo below is from the cookbook called
"Hello Cupcake"
So precious of an idea to make mini cupcakes look like chocolate truffles!
Taking old film canisters from flea markets and adding a fun knob or drawer pull on the top to make a unique gift and holder for some Valentine Candies! Or
how about finding an old 45 record (Elvis "Can't help falling in Love") and attach a special photo behind so it shows through the hole and place the record on your box of chocolates to add something special to the package.
How about this fun way of displaying no bake cookies! Using purchased meringue cookies connect them together with melted chocolate chips and place in an ice cream cone that has a secret love message inside is just too precious!
How about these chocolate wafer cookies piped with gel frosting and sprinkled with
beautiful shades of colored sugar!
Using fabric or paper decorate a purchased heart shaped box in beautiful valentine prints for your special Valentine.
What are you doing for your Valentine this year?
It's Friday and I have realized that I have spent much time lately on the computer trying to figure out Twitter! I must be slow or something because it hasn't completely sunk in yet how to use it correctly. I have been learning about Tweets and Retweets, Direct Messages, and all sorts of other twitter jargon. Hopefully soon I will understand the Twitter language and be able to use it to it's full capabilities. Until then I want you to know how much I enjoy this blog and hearing from so many of you! You lift my day with your comments, bring a smile with your humor and make me feel like I have so many friends all over the world. This year I hope to continue to create new things from old ones, try new decorating techniques and ideas out and share it all with each of you. I also want to continue creating new things to sell in my ETSY store ittybittybooties...I have some fun ideas that I can't wait to start making for little baby girls but since my daughter is expecting her second baby in April and it's a boy I will have to try my hand at making some cute baby boy items as well!
Well I am off to have a date with my sweet hubby I will have to post some fun pictures tomorrow.
Enjoy the Weekend Everyone!

PUMPKIN GINGER WAFFLES!!
I really don't like plain waffles or pancakes any more and so when I find a yummy recipe for them using different ingredients I love to try it out. This is a great new recipe. I only wish they were crispier other than that I loved the flavor.
I Found this recipe in the Oct. 09 Country Living Magazine and they turned out delicious!
I made them yesterday morning and topped them with a few oranges, fresh raspberries and of course maple syrup!
Here is the recipe:
Pumpkin Ginger Waffles
Country Living 2009 Oct. Issue
1 ¼ cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ C finely chopped crystallized ginger (I didn’t have this so I grated 1 orange peel into the mixture)
2 large eggs
¾ C buttermilk (I didn’t have this either so I added mixed with some lemon juice)
½ C sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
3 Tbsp melted butter
Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon in a bowl. (If using the crtystalized ginger remove 2 Tbsp of flour mixture and toss it together and then set aside.
Whisk eggs, buttermilk, pumpkin, sugar and vanilla in another bowl.
Combine flour with pumpkin mixture. Stir in butter and fold in crystallized ginger mixture (if using). Do not overmix. Heat waffle iron and drop about ½ cup batter per each one.
Makes 5 -five inch round waffles.
I'm already tired of the cold!
By The Style Sisters - Wednesday, January 06, 2010
I know it is only January but I am tired of the cold...I know I am a wimp but I grew up in Sunny Southern California so after a few months of cold weather I am done and ready for warmth!
If I can't have warm delicious weather around me right now I will just have to dream about it through these photos I found on
Coastal Living (the magazine) and on a fun website called Maine Cottage (Furniture)...Enjoy all this beautiful eye candy!
I am picturing a lovely brunch served in this sunny room. Notice the chairs are not matching but when painted all white they look fab!
Winter Decorating Inspirations
By The Style Sisters - Friday, January 01, 2010
This is a repost from last January but I thought it worth a re-post for this January.
I was looking around on the internet searching for some fun unique winter looks and so I thought I would share some of the pics I found with all of you. When I look at the photos they just make me say ahhhhh.
