Simple Fall Tablescape using Marigolds
My beautiful bright marigolds inspired me to do a simple Fall tablescape. I love the orange and gold colors!
I love the white table layered with bold pops of orange and gold...it makes me happy!
Hope this inspires you to look in your own backyard for some simple flowers that can make a bold centerpiece.

I attended a friends going away party...her name is Ashlyne and she is leaving for Chile to serve an LDS mission and she is so excited!! Her cute mom put together "A Girl's Night Out" Gourmet Smore's party and it was awesome!!
They served lots of different marshmallows including coconut, lemon, lime and brownie flavored! Cinnamon flavored graham crackers, chocolate chip cookies and waffle cookies. Plus lots of different chocolate candies and fresh fruit.
Dining Room Tid Bits Guest Blogger Jennifer Woodward
Jennifer said - I grew up in the mid 1950's and 1960's. My memories center around the kitchen because we did not have a formal dining room. My mother took great pride in presenting a lovely table and teaching us table manners as well as sharing the day's events with one another.
A "tablescape" was not a term we were familiar with, but in retrospect I think my mother knew what it was all about. The kitchen table furnishings were hand made from the beautiful embroidered table cloths that were cross stitched by my grandmothers, to place cards made by any one of my 4 siblings or myself, to learning to fold napkins in fancy folds. The centerpiece was often a bowl of fruit or cut flowers from the garden, or wild flowers presented to mom from one of us kids.
I still like to present my table centered around a theme and it is, most often, things I've made, sewn and even grown.
Right now my garden has presented me with beautiful giant sunflowers. They are huge, sunny yellow and gorgeous.
I decided I wanted to bring indoors the sunflower theme and I made a quilted table runner, placemats and napkins based on the Sunflower theme.
Jennifer made these darling Sunflower Napkin Rings!
Using a yellow Sculpey III Oven Bake clay, I rolled out the clay, stamped it with a sunny flower stamp and used black dye ink. I cut the shape with a biscuit cutter, created a hole for threading the jute through and then baked them in the oven for 15 minutes at 275 degrees. Voila! Instant napkin rings.
For our salad I made a salad topper of sauteed sage and cranberries, maple syrup and Sunflower seeds.
Thank you Jennifer for submitting this post and sharing your sweet memories with us and letting us take a peek into your creative world!

Photo backdrop for 18th birthday party
My adorable niece just turned 18 and a bunch of her friends along with my sister gave her a surprise birthday party. My sister was trying to come up with some inexpensive quick ideas for decorations to use at the park. I don't know if you have ever tried to decorate a large space like a gym or a park but you have got to have large scale things to make an impact.
I happened to have to have just read an emagazines called souvenir lifestyle by Heather Bullock I believe it was last years summer edition and it highlighted some really cute photo booths to make like these:
A white background with tons of fun words written all over....like "friends", "fun", "summer" etc... Then they added cardboard cut into shapes attached to sticks and painted with chalkboard paint so guests could write their own sayings. Sooo cute!!
The day of the party my sister...Tiffany.....was running around like a crazy person getting one kid to the doctor, taking a car to her hubby because his had to go into the shop, stop at the grocery store which BTW is 45 min. away from her house!!! and try to make a bunch of cupcakes!
Then get all the stuff ready to take to the park and figure out a cute way to make the photo booth!! Phew!! I don't know how she does it!! Anyway this is what she came up with.....seriously so cute!!
To greet all the guests...Tiff used a large chalkboard....that she had hanging on her wall in the kitchen and she yanked it down for this party and added this cute banner and strung it across the top.
