Valentine Mini Cupcakes in a Heart shaped box!
By The Style Sisters - Wednesday, February 11, 2009

This idea comes from the amazing cook book called:
"Hello Cupcake!"
(You can purchase this book from my amazon slide show down on the
right hand side of this blog.)
Oh my gosh let me tell you how many amazing cupcake ideas there are in there! We decided to make this particular Valentine cupcake treat and deliver them to some special people for our Youth Night Activity. We used a basic box cake mix and whipped up the batter and baked them. I found mini red cupcake liners and lots of candies (I found the Valentine candy corns, and the marshmallow shaped hearts at Target).
Once baked you frost the cupcakes with a lighter colored chocolate frosting and then start decorating
until your hearts desired. (no pun intended).

on them are actually mini cupcakes with marshmallows dipped in melted chocolate frosting and then squiggled with either white or milk chocolate frosting on them. All the ingredients and candies are listed in the cookbook. It is just so adorable don't you think?

Last night, before the Tornado sirens went off and we had to seek shelter in our bathroom from the crazy Texas storm, Emily (my 18yr old daughter)
and I made this delicious dinner. Emily is the daughter that hates to touch raw meat. I told her that if she doesn't get over this craziness she will starve to death when she leaves to go to college! This is what she told me "Mom I will just buy the meat that is already cooked at the grocery store" I said..."ummm no you will not! .....You will not have any money to buy the already cooked meat or the gross fast food every night... and buying that kind of already cooked meat...is not healthy for you either. You need to learn how to cook a few things from scratch...using a scary thing called "raw meat"!"

So....since she did not go to work on account of the storm approaching....I told her this is the perfect night to practice.......I got her into the kitchen with me and proceeded to help her make this meal. Emily did great! In fact I think she really liked making the meatballs. (She even said "it does smell good" after we put all the onions and spices and cheese into the bowl). After it was all cooked and we sat down to eat...she said.."Mom I am pretty proud of myself and this tastes amazing!" Wahoo! I now know she can cook at least one meal that involves using"raw meat" and not pass out! Progress!!
Yeah she is a tough girl now....handling "raw meat" he he he he. I just love my Emz to pieces!!
I thought I would share this recipe with you.

By The Style Sisters - Saturday, February 07, 2009
Since I have a granddaughter coming into the world within a matter of days!!! I have gotten the bug to sew up some cute fun things. I am using recyclable materials along with new fabrics to make or embellish Itty bitty booties, skirts, onesies and hats. This is my first try at selling things on Etsy so we shall see what kind of response I get.
These little booties were made from recycled jeans. They fit a baby 3-6 mos.
Tablescape Thursday- Napkin Folding Step by Step "The flower"
By The Style Sisters - Thursday, February 05, 2009
It is "Tablescape Thursday" over at Between Naps on the porch and I am showing a napkin fold plus pictures and a video of my table at the bottom.
For the napkin...I call it the "Flower" fold but I don't really know the real name of the napkin fold. It is so easy to do!
I took pictures step by step so you can see how to do it..... to use on your own table for Valentines day or any time to make your table special.
1. Lay a square napkin down on your surface. Mine is approx. 18" square.

2. Fold all 4 corners into the center

It looks like a package see below

3. Fold all 4 corners into the center again.

It is a more compact looking package.

4. Flip the whole package over..being careful not to let it unfold

All folds are underneath....smooth side is up

5. Yep you guessed it....Fold all four corners to the center again!
It is starting to look like a flower now! You can leave it like this and place something in the center but if you want it to really say WOW!...keep going......
6. Underneath each corner..... there is a flap....just pull it out. You can see my fingers holding on to the underneath flap in the picture below.

5. Yep you guessed it....Fold all four corners to the center again!
Now add a little pizazz by placing a flower, or candy or some little trinket in the center and you have the WOW factor going on!
Here is my little flower on my black and white salad plate, sitting on my white dinner plate on top of my red charger plate.
Here is another shot of the table all decked out with little silver snowflake name card holders.
The fabric in the center of the table is a piece of black and white Toile from Walmart!
Using what I had on hand to make an ordinary table ...extrodinary! he he he
Here is a little video piece on this table decor
with a few added extras....Notice the cake plate (A Christmas cake plate no less) and close ups of the snowflake name card holders. Use what you have and be creative!

Found some beautiful rooms decorated with yellow. I love the color yellow almost as much as I love the color red. Or even better yellow and red together. I really love this cool and funky yellow chair. I found most of these items on cottagemain.com it is loaded with gorgeous cottage styled furniture.
Love the big windows with the yummy yellow fabric on the chairs.
Just a cute yellow dresser. I can't remember where I found this cutie. Simplistic but classic at the same time.

How about the yellow green with a beautiful salmon color...Ooooh I love this too. So refreshing don't you think?
