I saw a picture of a watermelon turtle while flipping thru pinterest one day and decided to recreate it from my memory. It turned out pretty cute!
I cut it almost in half and then using a melon baller scooped out all the flesh into little melon balls from both the main part of melon and the "lid". I also did the same thing to one canteloupe to give it some color.
Next I took the "lid" and cut out a smaller oval section and that is what I used for his shell back. I carved "ancient turtle markings" into the smaller circle with a tool in my kitchen drawer .
...I don't even know the name of it haha any way I used the edge of it to scrape off the skin in areas to make designs in the "shell".
With the leftover pieces I cut out 4 little legs and cut mini triangles at one end to make it looked webbed...and then I cut out a roundish shaped piece for the head and a triangleish piece for the tail.
The eyes were made with 2 large chocolate chips!
What kind of things have you made with watermelon?
