Turn a thrift store chair into French Beauty the EASY WAY!!!

Yes this beautiful French looking chair came from a Thrift Store!!

I could see the potential of it when I saw it sitting in the store.

Here is the before...it was a yucky old antiqued yellow chair with 80's striped fabric on it. I swear I remember seeing this chair in some of my friends houses growing up!

But notice the curvey french looking legs? uh huh Love that!

Notice the cane backs all in perfect condition...uh huh I love that too!

Notice the cute girl working so hard to help her mom uh huh I LOVE LOVE that! This is Madeline my oldest daughter from Eyes of Mad Blog who does the most amazing baby showers!!

All we did to these chairs was lightly sand and paint and then we wipe off the paint in places so they looked like they had an old patina to them. The cool thing about this is...because they were old the old oils came through and slightly yellowed the white paint to make them really look like they have a patina on them.

Then we sanded in a few spots here and there to make it look weathered.

Here is my beauty all gussied up. No primer, no having to be so careful... the messier the better.

Of course I had to change out that rocking 1980's fabric to something a little more cottage beachy looking. I found this gorgeeeous fabric at Joann's fabrics and had a coupon and got it for a great price....although I can't remember how much I paid for it now but it was good. We took off the old and stapled on the new!

I am so thrilled with how they turned out and so simple...all that was need was.just a little free child labor he he he

Uh Huh I LOVE THAT!! AND OF COURSE I LOVE HER TOO!!

After we put the chairs in the dinning room and oohed and ahhed over the new chairs I was not liking my beige parsons chairs that sit at each end of the table.....so...here is what I did to tie them into the room...you are going to love this! I simply took some of my left over fabric folded into thirds and tucked one end into the seam where the seat and back come together and brought the fabric up and over the top to hang down the back of the chair......it just kind of hung there but I knew I was on to something.... I decided it needed some "jewelry" I scrounged around in my messy buffet drawers and found I had these old goldish looking sea shell napkin rings.... so I cinched the flowing fabric around with some leftover cording (stuff you use to make pipping). It looks like rope but really soft and attached the sea shell to finish it off and

HELLO MY CUTENESS! NO SEWING INVOLVED!!

Just think I can change out the fabric on a whim for a different look!....I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!!

(mine and my sisters fav saying...it has to be amazing to get 3 loves)

Crusty Bread Recipe from Simply So Good

Oh my gosh this bread is AHH MAZING And super easy to make! My daughter brought this over last Sunday for dinner and she made not one but two different flavors.

Crusty Bread recipe from Simply So Good with add ins, Crusty bread recipe, Rise overnight bread- THanksgiving Bread, The Style Sisters

The recipe comes from Simply So Good and only has 4 ingredients but Madeline made one of the loaves with orange rind and craisins and the other one she added rosemary, garlic and a little asiago cheese to it...Oh yeah...uh huh amazing!!

Crusty Bread (Overnight Rise)

3 cups unbleached all purpose flour

1 3/4 teaspoons Kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon Instant or Rapid-rise yeast

1 1/2 cups water

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt and yeast. Add water and mix until a shaggy mixture forms. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set aside for 12 - 18 hours. Overnight works great. Heat oven to 450 degrees. When the oven has reached 450 degrees place a cast iron pot with a lid in the oven and heat the pot for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, pour dough onto a heavily floured surface and shape into a ball. Cover with plastic wrap and let set while the pot is heating. Remove hot pot from the oven and drop in the dough. Cover and return to oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes remove the lid and bake an additional 15 minutes. Remove bread from oven and place on a cooling rack to cool. I posted this picture of my Kodiak hot cake pancakes on my instagram account and got 50 likes! So I thought I would share my recipes with all of you.

I really love Kodiak Cakes pancake waffle mix it has 7 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber plus it is made of 100% whole grain wheat flour, 100% whole grain oat flour, non-fat dry milk, dried honey (honey, wheat starch), leavening (sodium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate), egg whites, sea salt.... and you Just add water...BUT

I usually make mine with milk and/or orange juice and I add one egg and some cinnamon and a lot of times I add a banana to the mix but this time I sauteed apples in a little olive oil with butter, coconut, cinnamon, a sprinkle of sugar and added some slivered almonds.

I scooped it on my pancakes with a dollop of vanilla greek yogurt and a drizzle of real maple syrup.

Yum just YUM!! perfect for a Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast!

Homemade pizza

In honor of the Olympics we made an olympic pizza for the fam!

We made a basic pizza dough (see below for recipe)

avocada, olives, pepperoni, jicama, peppers pizza

For the rings we used Red Pepperoni's, Black Olives, Jicama dyed blue with food coloring, Green Avocados and Yellow peppers

For the sauce we used bottled basil marinara spaghetti sauce...I can't remember the name of it..something with farm in it heheh

Everyone loved it.

Ingredients

1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)

2 1/2 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a medium bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
Stir in flour, salt and oil. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker's peel dusted with cornmeal. Spread with desired toppings and bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Let baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Wedding cake with fresh flowers cascading down was perfect!
It almost been a year since we had my daughters wedding and I was looking back at all the photos and this cake was just so stunning I decided to repost it.

This was the inspiration cake that my daughter found from Wedding Chicks

My son-in-laws friend... Whitney, made the cake and his cute mom cascaded all the flowers down the side of it. It was so beautiful and soooo delicious! We also had Whitney make 100 cupcakes.

I used lots of my instant cake plates that I made and some cake stands that I bought to display all the cupcakes. All the beautiful peach, pink and coral colored napkins and navy blue plates were from Party Pail..which I think is no long in business but I loved their selection! The gorgeous vintage buffet table is from The Shabby Chic Sisters Rentals all of their furniture and chandeliers just made the wedding reception amazing!

The wedding cake is sitting atop of a galvanized tin serving tray that I found at Walmart that I flipped upside down and slightly bent the handles so it would lay flat and it worked perfectly!!
Bonus it was only $7.00!!

This cake was seriously so moist and delicious!.
There was none left!

They were hysterical smashing the cake in each others faces and the little kids got such a kick out of them!

It was such a fun reception!

Up first are the placesettings..these turquoise colored placemats are from TJMaxx

White dinner plates are from Ikea

Soft blue salad plates are from Tai Pan

The tan colored dessert plates are from Salvation Army

White Napkin rings I've had for a few years now.

Take a look at this darling French egg holder... a silver crown votive candle holders

I love using creative things to serve fruit kabobs in. Like this cute little metal French looking container. Or I could use it to place napkins or silverware in it for a buffet.

The fruit kabobs are made up of bananas, cutie oranges, kiwi and blueberries! My grand kids ate them up!

This tall wired cloche is filled with branches covered in moss and peeking out is a little love bird.

oh I just love using these little metal crown votive holders as mini vases...they really add that sparkle to the table.

The room just glows with my chandelier hanging above.

The wired cloche really makes a statement on the table don't you think? You could even fill it with flowers or a tall white candle.

Emily my daughter is such a great baker and made this homemade chocolate cake that is sooo moist and delish!

Emily used Cadbury eggs to decorate the top of the cake

We had this a couple of years ago and it will be Easter staple!

Hot Wheels Cake - First attempt with Fondant

Hot Wheel's Race Track Cake!

This was my first attempt at using fondant and I'm not gonna lie it was a little tricky. I looked around on the internet to for some ideas and came up with this plan

I used rice krispie treats to mold the track and then cover it in fondant.

These are easily shaped into rectangles

I shaped the loop de loop first

and then added more track to to it...since I am not a perfectionist....it was kind of lumpy hehehe but hey a little boy is not going to care he will think it looks awesome right?

Then I covered the race track and loop de loop in orange fondant

I rolled it out into long skinny pieces

Then I covered all the rice krispy pieces. It was kind of funky on the circular loop de loop because it was not a smooth surface. (it looks more like a road from the Flintstones cartoon) But all in all I think it worked out pretty good. I think I made the The loop de loop a little bit too thick so next time I would make it thinner so it would stand up better.

For the light signal I simply used a rectangle of rice krispies and a skinny skewer

Melted some chocolate chips and added....

M&M's for the little lights

My circle looks pretty smooth in this pic!

I think I was going to try and make a tire out of this small circle but I didn't end up needing it.

Next I made a butter cream frosting and tinted it a fun color blue. I placed it on a round cardboard cake thingy (I can't think of what they are called!) and covered the cardboard with black and white checkerboard scrapbook paper to mimic the flags at races.
