I haven't been doing any creative projects lately because the pool just keeps calling my name...."Karin...come get in the pool where it is nice and cool...take a dip.....float around just for a while, all your housework can wait" It tempts me all day long and so.... since I am weak...I just give in! Why not!! Life is too short....just take time to smell the "chlorine" ha ha ha.
I have been having a hankering to sew something fun and creative....a few months back I was inspired by the magazine Quick Stuff to Sew and did make my niece an adorable purse. I used the pattern that is in the magazine but added the brown plastic handles to make it more useable for a young teen. It came out pretty cute and she loves it! This magazine has tons of great patterns in it with all the directions you need. I really want to make some of the cute flip flops that are on the cover too.
Well.....I am off to the sewing room to see what fabrics I have laying around and see what I can come up with......uh oh....I hear the pool talking again...."come take a evening swim, you can sew later tonight, do some laps .....that is healthy for you, maybe even some water aerobics, or just float away the stresses of the day" Sheesh! Now do see what I am up against....this pool voice is just evil.......................................What to do......... decisions...decisions...........SPLASH!!
Here is another cute little shop that is right next door to 120, called The Picket Fence. All these shop owners get together and host all kinds of outdoor events like sidewalk sales with musicians playing in the streets all throughout the year to help bring in customers. On the 4th of July they held a Homemade Ice Cream Crank Off. In fact there is an old antique shop in town that had a mini museum of old Ice Cream Makers that was amazing to see. I took pictures throught the glass window.
If you are ever in North Dallas be sure to go on over to Old Mckinney and check out the adorable shops that are over there.
I also stuck some American flags into our flower pots along the walk to the front door.
I have had this white wooden wheel for a long time...I think I purchased it at Hobby Lobby and I use it every year for the fourth of July. There is a garland of red berries wrapped in out through the spokes and then I just glue gunned the American flags to it.
This photo shows front of our house....I wish I could convince my hubby to hop up onto a ladder so we could hang more buntings from the top windows...but it is really high up ...plus I don't think we own a ladder would reach that high up. On the fourth of July I want to line the walkway with mason jars filled with sand and white candles so it will really light it up in a fun way. What are y'all doing to decorate for the 4th?
I also found this photo....this was the before, before picture. This looks more country to me but I liked it too. Yes I know what you are all thinking...she changes things all the time. Yep...I do.... but for very little money! 1 gallon paint for the bedroom, my mom gave me the black and white comforter cover in the above pics, the flowy white curtains and rods were from Ikea (CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP), Spray painted the furniture black and cheap black frames from Walmart! Let me know which room you like best. Karin :)

This year instead of 
they learned how to do archery...(I bagged a moose target with my bow and arrow...who knew I had Robin Hood's blood in me),
(This is a picture of one of girls that had good form doing archery), the Young Women learned about first aid, sterilizing water, what to do if you get lost in the woods, CPR, they also learned unity by learning how to work together as a team by going through a ropes
course, the girls had fun playing sports like water baseball (the bases were small wading pools and home base was a slip and slide), and a unique volleyball game where there are four sections and four teams trying to not let the ball land on the ground. They also had the opportunity to do some quilting and make some crafts.
The best part of camp is the spiritual devotionals where we have a speaker who speaks to the girls about the theme of camp. This years theme was "Rise up, Stand firm, Shine on". We read from the Bible and The Book of Mormon, pondered and prayed about these things, shared our feelings and thoughts with one another and finally there was an opportunity to bear testimony of what we have found to be true. We, the leaders and the girls came away from this experience with new friends, a stronger commitment to stand strong, gained knowledge in many areas, and best of all fun sweet memories.
