Welcome to Centerpiece Wednesday!
I made this star watermelon centerpiece tonight for my cooking group. It is delicious too. The fruit has a sauce that is made of 1/4 C Limeaid, 1/4C Honey and 2 Tsp. Poppyseeds.
I just love to see patriotic centerpieces with flags flying in them and flowers! It looks fresh and clean to me.
How about putting an old tricycle on the table! I found this in a book and thought it was very inventive. Wouldn't an old red wagon be adorable on a buffet table!
I found this idea on BHG...an old lunch box with old glass milk jars and colored rubber bands! To cute!

  10. Thai Veg Soup
    1 c brown rice
    2 c water
    1 sweet onion chopped
    4 cloves garlic, minced
    1/4 c fresh ginger, minced
1 c carrots, chopped, 4 c broccoli or green beans, chopped
    1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 T thai pepper garlic sauce
1 (14 oz.) can lite coconut milk
    6 c veggie broth
1 c white wine, or another cup of broth
3 T fish sauce, you MUST use at least some of this
2 T soy sauce, more if you used less fish sauce
3 thai chili peppers (optional for tender palates)
2 T fresh lemon grass, minced
    1 t saffron
    1. Bring rice and water to a boil in a pot. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer 45 min.
    2. Heat olive oil in a large pot over med. heat & cook garlic, onion, ginger & carrots 5 min. until tender. Mix in broccoli or beans, red bell pepper, coconut milk, broth wine, fish and soy sauces, Thai chili peppers, lemongrass, garlic sauce and saffron. Simmer 25 min.
    3. Pour soup in batches into a blender or food processor and blend until sooth & creamy. Blend in 3/4 cup of plain yogurt (not very authentic, but good!) or tofu. Return to pot and heat through.
    4. Serve in bowls over about 1/4 c cooked rice and garnish with lots of torn cilantro or Thai basil.
