Halloween Treats and Decorating Ideas

On Tuesday a bunch of gals from church and some neighbors all got together to share Fall/Halloween ideas!
I made these Guacamole Ghoul Eyes out of Cherry tomatoes and Wholly Guacamole topped with a sliced olive. So deeelish!!

You can buy this headstone at the dollar store! Then modge podge the areas you want to add glitter to and sprinkle away!! Marsha's daughter Mindy brought this. Plus the fake pumpkin painted black and she added glitter to the polka dots. So adorable.
Sandi brought all these great food ideas that she has done with her little boy. Monster cupcakes made from all kinds of candies and "brain cupcakes". (Martha Stewart) Then she served carrots and celery from science beakers. Such cute ideas! 
Virginia made these adorable ghost cookies from Nutter Butter cookies and dipping them in white chocolate.

We also learned about some important health tid bits from Michelle who also happens to be a nurse on how to combat our families from getting the flu.

Those green balls fell from a tree in the park and I added some fake spiders to make it creepy!
Sandi made these cute "crackers" (Martha Stewart) filled with Halloween Kisses.

Allison made these adorable Marshmallow mummies with marshmallows and fruit roll-up. Are they just so cute or what!
Michelle made these adorable bats from tiny orange pumpkins and painted them black and added wings cut from black foam sheets that she attached with toothpicks. Make sure you make a hole in the pumpkins with something sharp as these pumpkins are very hard!
Rainie also got recipes from Bakerella on how to make "cake pops" that look like mummies. They turned out perfect!
I hung up one of my lime green Halloween banners that I made and we placed the jar of "Brains" (cauliflower in tinted water) and the Pasta Skeletons on my side board.
A Boo Banner enhanced with glitter! So Easy to make!
Bug Stew!! (Martha Stewart) Sandi also brought this cool "bug stew" that she made. Using a witches cauldron and reindeer moss, white pipe cleaners, bugs and spiders glued and glittered! It was amazing.
Another fabulous idea from Sandi and Martha Stewart. Twigs from her yard painted black and then you make the paper ornaments from a pattern on Martha Stewart.
Pasta Skeletons (Martha Stewart)
Service Idea for families: Secretly leave a treat and this poem that asks them to do the same thing...secretly pass on some special treats to someone else and so on and so on..... So fun to do with your kids and this allows them to think of someone else through the Halloween holiday instead of just what they will be getting.

I whipped these little baby boots up and just had to share them with all of you! Don't you think they look just like the popular Ugg boots?! I love how they turned out.
I am also selling them in my Etsy store ittybittybooties I will soon be offering them in pink too! Can't you just picture them on a little chubby legs with tights and little skirt! Oh so so cute!
I can't wait to see them on my own granddaughter soon!!

Green and Black Halloween Banner and Orange and Black Halloween Banner

I made these two Halloween Banners out of left over Black scrapbook paper, newspaper, lime green tissue paper and old jewelry of my grandma's! 
I love the Lime green with the black. The little white pearls just added a unique touch.
I really loved the idea of repurposing my grandma's old broken jewelry and incorporating pieces of it into this banner.
Just so fun and different!
I had the cardboard letters but they had a burgandy calico print on them so I painted them black and then added the glitter to make them really sparkle!
So fun!

I have made this darling "Spooky Halloween Banner" out of Orange Burlap. The Letters are stenciled in black on the orange burlap and a cute little black button has been added as well. The banner is attached to a black grosgrain ribbon.
What a fun banner to hang from your fireplace or any other place where you want to show off your Halloween spirit.

So you say "I don't have a cake plate" Well just get out your dinner plates and a glass goblet and stack them on top of each other!
Add some black scrapbook paper to the edges of the plates with a few dots of hot glue (that can be peeled right off later) that have been cut with some decorative scissors.....could it get any simpler!
Add some apples and a candle with a ribbon and some popcorn in a cello bag tied with a ribbon and you are good to go. You will notice that you can see the goblet part of the glass and so I filled it with some fall berries for a little added touch.
Voila!! A cute Centerpiece made from things you already own!
Think of all the possiblities...Orange paper, pink paper, striped paper, floral, Christmas etc... the options are endless...just by using some paper to change the look! You could even add glitter or glue on some embellishments! If you do this please send me your links so I can see your results!

Decorating Fireplace Mantel for Fall

It's time to get the mantel ready for fall!
I pulled out my fall decor and played around with it today to create my fall mantlescape! Is that even a word? he he 
In my fall box I found the cute pumpkin man from last year and the orange bottle brush trees as well.
I had the garlands from last year, plus extra leaves all mishmashed in a box in the garage and just kept adding and adding...a little more here and there.
I had a little black frame and put in a retro looking fun Halloween postcard and placed it on a small black easel. I also used my grapevine pumpkin, my old fall topiary, my old sparkly pumpkins and more fake fall leaves. 
To show you how I started.....First I took everything off the mantle to start with a fresh clean palette and then
I placed a couple of pieces of burlap fabric with a few small boxes underneath in different areas to give some elevation to things I would be placing on here. I know you can't see any elevation in this pic but they are there.
I then added some of the fall garlands and just tucked them in and around. (I cut them up to I could have more flexibility) I added little sprigs of grapes, other fall leaves and odds and ends to make it appear fuller. Then I started placing the largest pieces in first and worked in the other smaller items unti
l I liked how it looked.
