Thanksgiving Orange Blue and Old Books

Thanksgiving is the best holiday because we gather everyone round the table and share a delicious meal, we celebrate love, gratitude and FAMILY! I created a unique Thanksgiving tablescape using an uncommon color palette of blue and orange and I used some old book pages.
I adore these leaf plates purchased from Walmart years ago...they haven't carried anything like it since.
You don't need to match all your stuff..I used a mix of different napkin rings..I love these pale yellow ones from pier 1. Add some old book pages underneath dinner plates to add texture and create layers.
For a little bling I used these orange and yellow gold bauble napkin rings also from pier 1
Using old books my daughter folded the pages to create unique shapes that I used throughout the centerpiece. A friend made these mini chalkboards by painting cardboard with chalk paint and attaching them to painted silver clothes pins that allow me to write sweet messages to my family.
Another fun napkin ring...a rusty metal letter cut out..I found these at Michaels..I wish i would have bought more!!

More old book pages scattered throughout the center of the table used as a table runner..no worries about spills!
Set upon old book page Pinwheels (tutorial on the blog Saturday) are these metal pumpkin placecard holders also from pier 1
Here you can see the entire table complete with white napkins.
I think I like the picture without the white napkins so you can see the orange leaf plates better :)
Wouldn't it be fun to find old book pages with things about Thanksgiving written on it so everyone could share something interesting while eating? I suppose one could even laminate the pages so they could be used over and over.
Another cool folded old book...this is a great idea for torn or ruined books.

Posted with Blogsy I haven’t made this pumpkin bread recipe in a very long time and I must it turned out perfectly scrumptious!
It was just a great day for baking...Cold outside and warm inside with heavenly smells coming from my oven... I’m pretty sure I say this at the start of every season but ...I love this time year!
This bread should really be called dessert bread because it is soooo good.. moist with a little crunch on top and sweet!
I wrapped up a couple of loaves using brown paper sacks that I cut up to create a band over each loaf and then added a band of leftover scrapbook paper, tied it up with orange and white baking twine, added a sticker and then wrapped each loaf in cellophane to keep them fresh.
The little sticker was supposed to print out as a nice round pretty pumpkin but as it came through the printer...it for some reason squished them all up and most were not readable but I salvaged 6 of the squished little punkins 😁
Here’s the recipe it makes 2 regular sized loaves or 7 mini loaves
Pumpkin chocolate chip bread
3 C sugar
1 C oil
4 Eggs
1 large banana
1/3 c water
3 C Flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp ginger
1 tsp salt
1 C semi sweet chocolate chips
15 oz can pumpkin
Beat eggs, sugar, oil and banana together. In separate bowl mix all dry ingredients, add to wet ingredients, add pumpkin and water and mix, add chocolate chips and mix in with a spoon.
Grease pans. Pour mixture into pans and bake at 350 for 45 min or until toothpick comes out clean.
Enjoy and share some with friends and neighbors!
Indian Tribal themed baby boy shower

Our cute friend Michelle wanted an Indian themed baby shower for her baby boy and after looking on Pinterest we found some ideas from Kara's Party Little Brave Man baby shower and this is what we came up with.
A family friend made the cake and my daughter Madeline added some green leaves around the base of our little cake along with the arrows made from cardstock cut out from my Cricut machine and hot glued onto wooden skewers. We propped the cake up on wooden crate and placed these white spray painted antlers that my daughter Emily had in front... to give this little cake some presence!
We really had fun creating all the Indian themed treats- These little “Tom Tom drums” are marshmallows I dipped in melted chocolate chips then dipped in crushed graham crackers. I used skinny wooden skewers you get at the grocery store and attached feathers with hot glue that I cut out using my Cricut machine. Click for the SVG file. I placed the little tom tom's on a wooden slab that I bought on Amazon for that rustic feel.
Store bought Caramel popcorn in a basket lined with orange and white striped paper napkin you can find at Target.
I had these little paper cup with blue zig zags on them and we filled them with a few fresh veggies and ranch dip and placed
them in my 3 Tier metal serving stand
I made these darling Tee Pee sandwiches by cutting the bread into the shape of a triangle and spreading each with cream cheese and fresh herbs and topping each one with 3 sliced cucumbers. For the tops I added pieces of pretzels sticks to look the top of a tee pee. Everyone gobbled them up!

We skewered fruit onto wooden skewers and added a cardstock arrow points to the tip of each skewer to look like an arrow.
My daughters and I looked around our homes to find things to put on the table that would make it feel more Indian like...we found a toy drum, mini cactus plants from Target and the skull head on a stick and it just turned out super cute!
Easy Fall Centerpiece using mini pumpkin

I love using my 3- tiered metal serveware stand that I bought from pick your plum and I couldn't wait to create a quick and Easy Fall Centerpiece using mini pumpkins.
I simply bought a bunch of mini pumpkins in Orange and white and plopped them in each of the 3 tiers then, around the center tier I added a small grapevine wreath that I attached some fall leaf garland to.
I love the woodsy texture from the grapevine wreath and leaves and the pop of the Orange and white colors from the mini pumpkins against the smooth metal. Do any of you remember the 3 tiered fall centerpiece I made using stacked clear glass cake stands, scalloped edged newspaper and orange ribbon? It's a very inexpensive way to get a cool Halloween tiered cake stand.
Here's another idea why not make your centerpiece edible? Remember those yummy caramel apples I made the other day? I used them in this centerpiece without the wreath. You could use plain apples if you don't have any caramel apples handy. How about using pinecones, red and green apples and some greenery for Christmas. I really want to add some candles and make a spooky one for Halloween!

Isn't this adorable? A couple of years ago I had like a bajillion marigolds growing in my backyard and I had seen this idea on Better Homes and gardens so my daughter and I decided to try and make it!
I had two small urns in my storage and some dry floral foam but I bought a little wet floral foam so I can keep the flowers alive :)
We used the dry floral foam in the bottom of the urn to lift up the wet foam above the urn but it was wobbly so I used a bamboo skewer to attach the two floral foams together. It worked perfectly!
Then we started adding the flowers row by row until we covered the enter foam.

Tomato Bruschetta Recipe
I love to make this easy appetizer as soon as the warm weather arrives but really it is good anytime.
I just use what I have on hand... a couple of tomatoes (but Roma tomatoes are the best) a little minced garlic, yellow, red or green peppers and of course fresh basil leaves.
Chop all the ingredients in tiny little pieces so that they fit on top of the baguettes slices.
Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1 Tbsp of Balsamic vinegar (or use either to your liking) and some black pepper
To get golden baguette slices I simply sliced the baguette into slices, added olive oil in a frying pan. (I prefer a plain ole black frying pan) because everything seems to cook up the better in it
. I also added a sprinkling of some kosher salt to the bread. Toast on both sides until golden
For this particular Bruschetta I added slices of fresh mozzarella on the baguette and then topped it with the fresh tomato bruschetta.
