Centerpiece Wednesday 4th of July ideas!

Centerpiece Wednesday!
I love the month of July....for me it is warm weather and what I call summer red white and blue celebrations with family! I did this table last year and loved how it turned out I have decided to showcase it again :)
Vroom vroom.....little kids and big kids alike will get a kick out of a tricycle on the table for the centerpiece! A small vase of posies sitting on the seat and big American flags leaning through the handle bars is just plain fun! For more red white and blue centerpiece ideas you can check out this post Red White and Blue Centerpiece ideas and check out these fun backyard games
The tablecloth is some red, tan and white fabric smooshed in the center for a messy look :)
I made these cute little paper popcorn holders for "small fries" to hold their popcorn and placed them in my wooden silverware caddy to serve.
Using a flat red basket, I placed my white napkins cinched with red, white or blue napkin rings on them.
Use what you have...I used these white cups to hold my red and white silverware for easy grabbing. I went around the house and looked for any red or white dishes, candle items, chargers, bowls etc...and it all came together.
Don't forget to use the trunk of the trike for serving root beer or your favorite beverage.
For a Memorial Day dinner or brunch..you could add old photos in frames of loved ones that have passed on to really think about and highlight them this Memorial Day.

Cowboy Caviar Bruschetta
Seriously the easiest and best appetizer using food from your pantry!
Cowboy Caviar Recipe
1 can black beans (drained)
1 can corn (drained)
1 can diced Tomatoes
1-2 green onions finely chopped
1 avocado cubed
1/2 fresh lime
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Salt and Pepper
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
Mix all together (lightly fold in avocado) and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Bruchetta
2 baguettes loaves thinly sliced on an angle
Brush olive oil on one side, sprinkle lightly with kosher salt and lay on cookie sheet..oil side up
Broil the bread until lightly golden....watch the bread as it can burn quickly.
I served the bread on a lazy Susan with the bowl of Cowboy Caviar in the center.
The guys LOVED this!! It was gone in seconds!!
TIP- Keep canned ingredients on hand in your pantry and keep some baguettes in freezer wrapped in aluminum foil so you can be ready for drop in guests during the summer holidays.
Fashion Friday Old Navy Wide leg linen blend drawstring pants with pockets
By Karin Brosnan - Friday, June 09, 2017
Fashion Friday!
I haven't done a Fashion post in a long time but I just had to share these super comfy pants with you!
My cute friend Maria and I are twinners! I was wearing them to her house the other day and she told me she had the same pair but she hemmed hers up a little bit to make them cropped and they look adorable!! We decided to both wear them to our youth Lake activity the other night. Twinners!! These pants are from Old Navy and they are Linen and Rayon and seriously the most comfortable pants ever! WE are going to call them Ladies Lake pants :)
P.S. I am not an affiliate with Old Navy I am just telling my buddies what I like.
The youth in our church had such a great time at the lake the other night!
So many great friends allowed the kids to use their paddle boards and kayaks and they had a blast!
The houses that face the lake are stunning to say the least!
Let me know what you think of our twinning Lady Lake pants :)
I am trying to get more veggies into my diet and this morning I created this yummy veggie eggs on toast so I thought I would share it with all of you.
I only had two eggs left in the fridge for my hubby sooo to stretch them I sauteed asparagus, red onion, yellow squash, and 1/2 a tomato in a little butter until tender but still have a little crunch. (I hate soggy vegetables)
In another bowl I added the eggs, a little milk, kosher salt and my favorite seasoning that I use
ALL. THE. TIME. ON. EVERYTHING!!!.
Weber beer can chicken seasoning.
Seriously I should be a spokesperson for them I love it so much!!
I also added a little Gruyere cheese that I had left over in the fridge. I mixed it up, poured it over the veggies and scrambled it up.
For the last 1-2 minutes I broiled the eggs to fluff it up.
Then I toasted two pieces of left over french bread and slathered them up with avocado and topped it with my egg mixture with a dollop of mango salsa from Costco. Scrumdileeumptious!

The hubsters loved it too! I feel like this was a total win because of 3 things-
1. I used up leftover bread, leftover cheese and my last two eggs
2. I got in more vegetables for breakfast
3. It was yummy!
Welcome to Centerpiece Wednesday!

Tried a new recipe Glazed Grilled Carrots
By Karin Brosnan - Monday, June 05, 2017
Glazed Grilled Carrots
I am always looking for new grilling ideas especially for vegetables. I feel like I always do the same ones...asparagus and zucchini so when I came across this recipe from New York times I decided to try it out.
I bought skinny organic carrots with the green tops still attached and sliced them in half. Then I precooked them in the microwave with some water so I wouldn't have to grill them so long.
(I was in a hurry) Then I followed the recipe by making the glaze sauce and then grilling the carrots. I could have grilled them a little bit long because they were a little bit too crunchy but I really liked the glaze!
Here is the recipe from cooking.nytimes.com
Glaze
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp Soy sauce
1 Tbs brown sugar
1/2 tsp finely chopped rosemary
1/2 clove garlic , cut into paper thin slices
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
2 Tbsp vegetable, plus more the carrots
10 medium carrots, peeled, trimmed and cut in half lengthwise
Salt
1 green onion thinly sliced
Step 1 In a large bowl, whisk together vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, rosemary, garlic and ginger until combined. Whisk in 2 Tbsp oil so dressing emulsifies; set aside.
Step 2 Heat to grill low. Coat carrots with oil and season with salt. Grill carrots, covered, turning as needed to prevent burning, until nicely charred and fork tender, 20 to 25 min.
Step 3 When carrots come off the grill, toss them immediately in the prepared dressing. Once they are coated, use tongs to transfer to a serving platter and garnish with green onion. Drizzle a few spoonfuls of the remaining dressing over the top.
Along with the Glazed Grilled carrots I served grilled halibut, seared fresh tuna with pineapple salsa, salad greens with grapes, raspberries almonds and #Briannassaladdressing poppy seed, our favorite!, a slice of french bread and half of a yam also grilled with a little #redstoneoliveoil Maple balsamic vinegar drizzled over the top...everything tasted so good!
Hope you will give the carrots a try.
(this is not a paid advertisement only my own thoughts about these two products)
Red White and Blue picnic basket idea
By Karin Brosnan - Thursday, June 01, 2017
I decided to put together this fun Red white and blue Picnic basket to hold all my eating utensils!
Wouldn't this make a fun gift for a new bride!
Tablecloth, dishes, napkins and napkin rings, silverware, plates and basket!
Cute Cute!
Don't you just love the cute little jean pocket silverware holders!
I made them myself.
When the sun starts setting and everyone is hungry you can be set with your basket of 4th of July goodies.
With very little effort your 4th of July meal will come together in a snap!
My cute friend Carrie found these adorable white plates at Wal-Mart
in the clearance aisle.
I just love them! The silverware is from Pottery Barn A few years ago!
The basket is from Ikea

Here is a centerpiece idea for your 4th of July Table. I took a white footed bowl and turned it upside down and layered white dinner plates and white salad plates on top. Gathered my napkins and napkin rings and placed them on top of the plates. Sprinkled a few gold sparkly stars around and voila! Instant centerpiece.
