Such a lovely Mother's Day BBQ in the backyard!

Hi everyone..I hope each of you really had a nice Mother's Day yesterday....I sure did! Surrounded by my daughters, Son-in-laws grandchildren and my amazing hubby..It was perfect!

I picked these flowers from my garden and basically plunked them in some mason jars to go down the center of the table.

(the bees were loving them so we moved them as soon as dinner was served!)

Here is my grilling man! He grilled up so much amazing food! Fresh Tuna, Steak, chicken and all kinds of veggies!

One of my Son-in-Laws made this incredibly delicious chocolate cranberry orange bread!! To Die For!

I marinated the boneless chicken thighs the night before in BBQ sauce, salt, a squeeze of lemon and my favorite seasoning from Weber called beer can chicken seasoning..I put it on everything! It is sooo good!

I found these cute melamine plates and place mats from Walmart!

It was truly a feast of mouth-watering food!

My daughter Emily made this show stopping Chocolate Brownie fruit tart for dessert.

Mother's Day luncheon inspired by Doris Day!

I think I will call this luncheon tablescape "Doris Day Luncheon" doesn't it just have that feel of an old Doris Day movie. All yellow and sunny...can you picture Cary Grant coming in and sitting down eating some scrumptious things she cooked.

I have had these darling yellow, pink and white polka dot plates for a few years now. I picked them up at Target for cheap!

I love how they look so fun and happy! I used some yellow gingham fabric from my fabric stash and smooshed it around and then set my white vase on it filled with flowers from Walmart. The whole bouquet cost $9.00!! I love fresh flowers on the table. I used some of pretty pink napkin ring holders

I love these gigantic white napkins that I bought at a little shop in downtown Chicago a year or so ago. They are so nice because 1. they look amazing on the table and 2. they cover your lap really well if you spill!

The white vase and the white cups were from Neiman Marcus or as I refer to them as Needless Markup! (I did not buy them mind you) they were given to me as a gift. Love that!! They are Italian dishes called Bella Cucina and I use them all the time. They are so fresh and clean looking. It is funny because the person that gave them to me actually gave me a large ornate platter but that is so not me so I went to exchange it and got the large white vase, 6 cups in a cute silver holder, a little white pot with a lid, and one other thing for the price of one large platter. SCORE!!!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day Roasted chicken dinner

My sweet daughter Emily totally spoiled me on Mother's Day this year...she not only cooked me this amazing roasted chicken dinner with carrots and potatoes but she also made breakfast in bed for me too! I felt like a princess the entire day! This chicken dish was amazing and so simple. Cut up chicken bone and skin on (makes for moist tender chicken) Salt, pepper, sprigs of fresh thyme, sliced lemon, 1 clove garlic chopped, one onion sliced, small bag of baby carrots and 4 red potatoes cut up. Roast in oven at 425 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until chicken is thouroughly cooked. YUM!!!

The pot was a Tid bit too small to cook...so after an hour we took all the veggies out of the pot and put them on a cookie sheet and cooked them separately to speed up the cooking process. A good friend Catherine from across the street joined us and brought over homemade rolls!

For dessert Emily made a browine, topped with white chocolate pudding mixed with whipped cream and fresh sliced strawberries..does it get any better?

For breakfast Emily mad me scrambled eggs with feta cheese and homemade apple streusel muffins...recipe from dulce dough that are to die for! Moist with chunks of apple and cinnamon.

My Mother's Day gifts

I have the most amazing family! They have been working on projects for me for a couple of weeks now and I just had to share them with all of you! My husband loves to tinker on projects around the house and most especially out in the yard.

While at one of the many many trips to Lowe's I spotted this adorable little chandy on the clearance aisle for only $29.00! Yes that's right good old Lowe's had this old fashioned sparkly little chandelier.

I snatched it up and my cute hubby installed in over my sink in the kitchen. So so cute!

Sorry my photos are so dark and not very clear...I used my IPAD and the lighting was just not great. :(

Here is the before picture...no chandy to be found.

Here is the other thing my husband made for me...a potting bench. He made it out of a wooden pallet! My daughter Madeline found the idea on Pinterest and my other daughter helped by pulling the pallet all apart!

This is my hubby working on the potting bench.

He not only built the potting bench but he and my daughter Madeline..built these amazing garden beds!!

They had to lay down some decorative cinder block to level the ground...our backyard slopes a bit.

Here it is all complete. He even built me a little ledge to sit on so I won't tweek my back by bending over so much!

I think Madeline was more excited than me to get the plants put in! We planted lots of herbs, tomatoes, green beans, White beans, peas, carrots, strawberries, red and green peppers and more! It is going to be amazing when everything starts growing!

Are they the best or what!!

I can't tell you how blessed I am!

I love my family so much!
