By The Style Sisters - Sunday, September 15, 2013
I am so excited to introduce you to Linsey from The Farmhouse Porch! I just love her style and her blog and I know you will too!
Howdy Readers! And Howdy to Karin of The Style Sisters blog!
Thank you so much for allowing me to come share a few thoughts and photos today with all of your followers.
My name is Linsey and you can find me over at The Farmhouse Porch I am so glad I was asked to talk about my dining room because it is one of the rooms in which I spend the most time. You're probably scratching your head right about now, wondering if we eat 3 formal meals a day in here, royal family style. I'm ashamed to admit that we rarely eat in here. This room has become my "Display Cool stuff and do crafts at the big farm table" room.
My dining room is located just under the loft, right in the middle of all of the action in our house. So from here I can do what moms do best...multitask. I can monitor the kids fighting, smell the dinner burning, and here the puppy ripping up my country living magazine...all while I blissfully craft away (or fold laundry, or paint...).
I like modern farmhouse style. I love chippy painted wood and crusty zinc-y metal. Linen and rustic fabrics. Beat up baskets and tea stained dishes.
And Jadeite!
I just can't get enough! This is my old apple crate in the other corner. And I'm constantly shakin' things up in here. Every time I post pictures of my dining room things are different. It's my vintage playground. Thanks for coming to play!
I'd be delighted to have you stop by my blog and Etsy shop too...HERE

I love what Suzanne said in her blog post-
"The laundry didn't get done that day;
nor did the vacuuming, or the dishes.
Instead, I spent the afternoon playing
"Tea Party"
with my little girls.
Is there anything sweeter than this?
Taking time to spend with our families around the dining room table creating memories is..... priceless!
Thank you Suzanne for being our guest blogger today and sharing this sweet moment of your life with us.
You have inspired me to spend some quality time with my grandchildren around the dining room table!

Dining Room Tid Bits with guest blogger Kirsten Krason

Welcome to the first "Dining Room Tid Bits" our special guest blogger is
Kirsten shares her formula for decorating a room or a tablescape-
I pull together a tablescape the same way I pull together a room, I always start with fabric first. In this case I had a set of colorful floral napkins that I picked up at T.J. Maxx several years ago.
I love pulling these napkins out in the Summer or Spring because of the vibrant colors that are used. I then look around my house to see what I can use that is in this color scheme. I had purchased these felt green placemats years ago at Home Goods and I love how they pull the green out from the napkins. The gold chargers were an after Christmas Target special and I love the metallic sparkle they add to the table. I always shop after Holidays to find pieces that I can use all year long. These chargers work for any season or any Holiday.
For my table runner I layered an old CB2 runner with some circle paper dots. These were leftover from a bridal shower that I threw for a friend. I find it helpful to keep leftover party supplies on hand to make pulling together my tablescapes a little easier.
For my centerpiece I pulled over some faux cherry blossoms that were in my Living Room. I love fresh flowers but if don't have them on hand I find that faux flowers can make a beautiful replacement and the pink impact was perfect for this table!
For me a great table comes together just like a great room. The formula is simple, a beautiful fabric mixed together with metallics, coordinating colors and geometric shapes!
I hope you enjoyed meeting Kirsten and learning how she puts together a room or tablescape. Make sure you head over to her blog and her interior design website to see her incredible work.
