A few years years back I was trying to come up with a fun way to display some American flags down the center of my table and realized I had some old Root Beer bottles laying around.
So I stuck the flags in them and added some red, white and blue napkin rings around the neck of each bottle. It just spoke AMERICANA to me and was sooo cheap!
You can use Root Beer bottles or other similar type of soda bottle and add flowers to them and tie them altogether for another cute look too!
Popcorn Paper cups
Next I stole this idea from Pottery Barn..popcorn in rolled up paper to make a cup. I made the cute little paper cups from scrapbook paper and newspaper!
I just folded the paper into a cone shape and added a dab of hot glue to hold them in place and voila instant popcorn cups!
I found the wooden silverware caddy at Hobby Lobby a few years ago and knew it would be the perfect holder for my popcorn cups!
I added some red white and blue ribbon to the handle and tucked in some flags to add to the cuteness factor going on!
These are such a great idea for a birthday party, movie night in the backyard and can hold anything from French Fries to your favorite candies.
I love how the plain newspaper ones turned out but you can use some fun scrapbook paper too! So simple and CHEAP!
Hi everyone..I hope each of you really had a nice Mother's Day yesterday....I sure did! Surrounded by my daughters, Son-in-laws grandchildren and my amazing hubby..It was perfect!
I picked these flowers from my garden and basically plunked them in some mason jars to go down the center of the table.
(the bees were loving them so we moved them as soon as dinner was served!)
Here is my grilling man! He grilled up so much amazing food! Fresh Tuna, Steak, chicken and all kinds of veggies!
One of my Son-in-Laws made this incredibly delicious chocolate cranberry orange bread!! To Die For!
I marinated the boneless chicken thighs the night before in BBQ sauce, salt, a squeeze of lemon and my favorite seasoning from Weber called beer can chicken seasoning..I put it on everything! It is sooo good!
I found these cute melamine plates and place mats from Walmart!
It was truly a feast of mouth-watering food!
Me and my girls :)
My daughter Emily made this show stopping Chocolate Brownie fruit tart for dessert.
The recipe will be on the blog tomorrow.

Have you ever tried Strawberry Basil lemonade? How about Cucumber mint limeade? Watermelon Stevia lemonade or maybe Blueberry Mint lemonade? Well you need to! They are so delicious!
My daughter Madeline found these recipes and used fun decanters to serve them in with small chalkboard signs attached with string and a clothes pin to let everyone know what kind we served.
We used my 3 tier galvanized serving piece and loaded it with tons of herbs in small canning jars as vases.
Here are the recipes and unfortunately we can't remember where she found them.
Watermelon Stevia Lemonade
2 cans frozen pink lemonade concentrate (make according to directions)
2 cups cut up watermelon purèed
2 sprigs chopped stevia leaves or mint leaves
slices of watermelon and lemon for garnish inside the jug of watermelon lemonade
1 liter of sprite
Blueberry Mint Lemonade
1 Can frozen pink lemonade (made according to directions)
1 liter of sprite
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries and sprigs of mint purèed
Handful of blueberries, sliced lemons and mint leaves for garnish in container of lemonade.
Can be made two days in advance
Cucumber mint lemonade
2 cans of frozen limeade (made to directions)
1 whole English cucumber slices or ribboned (we used a spiralizer)
2 sprigs of whole mint leaves
2 limes sliced for garnish
Strawberry Basil Lemonade
1 can frozen lemonade (made according to directions)
1 cup purèed strawberries
1-2 springs basil leaves purèed with berries
1 handful basil leaves cut into thin strips for garnish
1 whole lemon sliced for garnish
More strawberries sliced for garnish.
I love fresh herbs so much!! My hubby and I decided to plant a big metal bucket of fresh herbs today. We found the metal bucket at IFA Country store for some of our herbs and the others from Lowes.
Sage the St. Bernard was helping in the garden today...Sage is one of my daughters dogs living with us until they finish building their Townhouse. I thought it was appropriate to include her in the pictures today because of her name :)
Not only did we get our herbs planted but we also planted some tomatoes..one of which is a Chocolate cherry tomato!! I've never tried one before so we shall see how it tastes.
Here is our bucket of herbs on a stand in the corner of our garden. I love it because it is up high so I don't have to bend over!
We simply poked a bunch of holes in the bottom so it can drain, layered it with small rocks, added soil and planted the herbs.
We planted Rosemary, two different kinds of basil, Pineapple sage, cilantro, Tarragon, Dill and Marjoram
I also planted some regular Sage in another smaller container. I love Sage on chicken and turkey.
